Allah (subhananahu wa taala - the Glorious and the Exalted) specifies three rights of the Holy Quran upon the believers.
- Recitation of the verses correctly in the manner it was revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him).
- Comprehension of the message of Allah
- Follow the teachings and guidance of the Holy Quran in practical li
Turteel wa Tajwid
“The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it (to others).”
- The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)
Turteel
In Surah Muzammil, verse 4 of the Holy Qur’an, Allah (subhananahu wa taala) commands:
“and recite the Quran in slow measured rhythmic tones”
Turteel, an Arabic word, explains how to recite the Holy Qur’an in the way and manner that the angel Jibreel (AS) recited it to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). Turteel demands slow, thoughtful reading of the Holy Qur’an with correct pronunciation. Allah (subhananahu wa taala - the Glorious and the Exalted) says in the Holy Qur’an: “Those to whom we have delivered the Book recite it as it ought to be recited….” (Al-Baqarah 2:121)
Tajwid
In Arabic, the word Tajwid means “Improving,” or “to make something better”. With reference to the reading of the Holy Qur’an, it means “a manner of beautifying the recitation of the Qur’an by reciting in a much slower manner than turteel.” In prayer, the verses of the Holy Qur’an are recited with Turteel, not Tajwid. We can also say Turteel is the first step in learning Tajwid. Tajwid requires proper knowledge of the Arabic alphabet, their phonetic sounds, and the significance of the different kinds of pauses used in verses of the Holy Qur’an. It is necessary on the part of every Muslim (male or female) to acquire the ability of reading the Holy Qur’an with a correct accent and pronunciation. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Adorn the Qur’an with your voices.” (Narrated by Abu Daud & Nasai) The importance of Tajwid can be well-understood by this Hadith.
Our Turteel wa Tajwid online courses aim at teaching a clear idea of the letters of the Qur’an and their correct phonetic sounds. All the rules of Tajwid will be thoroughly explained and practised so that there may not be any chance of mistake on the part of the learners. Our competent teachers use various illustrated charts to help pronounce Arabic alphabets. The students are also asked to learn important verses from the Holy Quran which are read in payers. All the contents of the courses are designed keeping in view the learning capabilities of the students of various age groups. |
